SEE

Kim Salyer of Video Arts , Joanne Dorgan, Scott Harris, and Ben Kopman showing:

"A Case Study on the Adidas Spiral Theatre and CocaCola Pavilion at the Beijing Olympics."

The Coca-Cola Olympic Pavilion Venue showcased numerous site-specific media including one video that was projected over a 40-ft. screen.

Kim Salyer is the Founder and CEO of Video Arts in San Francisco. 30 years experience in video and film production and post-production. Video Arts specializes in color grading, effects and compositing, title design and mastering. Since 1986 VA has provided final post on hundreds of excellent films including 10 Academy Award-nominated films. Kim Salyer is interested in the evolution of media technology and the convergence of digital media through high-definition TV. Experienced in choosing technology and matching tech to new work flow models.

Joanne Dorgan is a free lance Film/Video editor in the Bay Area. Her duties for the Coca Cola Pavilion included producing original content and coordinating approvals and delivery of media with the clients, Video Arts staff, and Creative Technology technical crew.  In Beijing, her scope expanded to include editing, and managing and supervising editorial department for on-site programming.

Scott Harris, Art Director -  Coke Pavilion - Designing the look and media for the Red Passion Theater. Harris worked with a canvas 9’ high by 40’ wide, designing an exciting graphically intense piece celebrating China’s Olympic history culminating in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In addition to the challenge of working in the large format, 4 x HD projection environment, content had to be created and integrated from historical footage, live action ‘real people’ greenscreen footage, Coke advertising elements and Scott’s original animation and motion graphics in both Chinese and English. Working in Flame and After Effects, Harris directed the VA team of After Effects artists and worked closely with Smoke editor Zac Pineda to bring the project in on time and on budget.

Ben Kopman -  Adidas - Designing for the Spiral Theater

Ben is a California native who attended Ex'pression Center for Design majoring in 3d animation.  I've worked for 6 years as a motion graphics designer at Video Arts, San Francisco.

Issues that will be covered:  Creating media from start to finish. Dealing with clients and their design specifications.  Working with design elements from the client and tight budgets.  Working around the world in different time zones.  Designing media when the actual structure is in the process of being built.  Discuss the real world of production and post-production.

The Video Arts Team will show media from the initial 3D models and client elements  to the finished project.

"Overall the Suite is sweet. Apart from a few hiccups, this set of plugins is awesome. It covers a lot of ground and can be used by all AE artists. Lots of controls for the control freaks, one-click presets for the newbies, and everything in between. I would concur with the review of a couple years ago--MBS 2008 is an outstanding buy .
